Neogenesis – Chapter 18 part II

In which Tolly suggests a straightforward approach.

Tolly’s plan seems sensible and well-thought-out — as long as the universe obliges him to the extent of the outpost being occupied by the people he expects.

If the Institute has taken it over, things are likely to get exciting. On the other hand, to look on the bright side, perhaps it’ll be a burnt-out ruin and they won’t have to sweet-talk anybody.

I’m wondering if there’s something about being known to the Uncle that Tolly’s not telling Haz. He seems calm about it here, but there was something about his reaction when Disian told him the Uncle was involved that suggested to me his experiences with the Uncle have not been an unmixed pleasure.

PA: the extent of the outpost being occupied by the people he expects.

So…the authors surprise us once again. Where we were in suspense, expecting the unfolding of more exposition and/or plot, instead we skip over whatever Tolly was predicting and find ourselves there at the Light, or at the Light’s station, to be more precise.
