In which Commander Sanchez offers her assistance.
Of course, there’s also something to be said for being obvious.
(Though I stand by my distrust of obvious and tidy conclusions. We’re still some distance from any kind of conclusion, and if Vepal’s suspicions about his own emotions are correct, this development at this time makes the situation less tidy rather than more.)
It says something about the Yxtrang that the only salient difference between Vepal’s permanent apartment back at Temp Headquarters and his cabin on the ship is that his apartment is slightly bigger.
It also, I suspect, says something about the Yxtrang that Vepal assumes his comrade’s response to his weakness will be to expose him to public mockery.

This struck me as not worthy of him. We had been seeing his regard for JinJee grow and…although I understood this additional glimpse into Yxtrang culture…it struck me as out of character in that moment. But, later )don’t recall at the moment whether it is this chapter) we find out in passing, that besides funds being withheld, so have their usual course of medication and inoculations, hinting that a lot of the biology he takes for granted is actually applied and maintained through artificial means.
Also this need for action is something we see in Vepal and his troop, but not in Nerelic and the other nor’Phelium.
