Port Road
Surebleak
In which Val Con and Miri go house-hunting.
So, Val Con went to tell Pat Rin what was up while Miri Robertson went to tell the portmaster. Makes sense.
I get the feeling “everybody goes to Lady yo’Lanna’s party” is going to be the scene at the end showing the danger’s over and everyone’s looking forward to some peace and quiet.
I’ve been wrong before, though. It could be that instead there’ll be an action climax with a pitched fight over the hors d’oeuvres.
So why didn’t Miri already know that Surebleak has dramatic auroras, with zigzagging streamers of green, pink, blue; sheets of violet, yellow; and the occasional flare of brilliant white? What does this combination of colors indicate about the atmosphere?
Actually I remember wondering the same thing when I read this chapter. Maybe tree is getting artistic
Maybe it’s a side-effect of the weather satellites.
But Val Con’s reaction suggests that it’s something to do with the location of the house. Maybe the auroras aren’t visible down in the city, because of light pollution or whatever.
Could be !
Paul: Maybe the auroras aren’t visible down in the city, because of light pollution or whatever.
More than likely. But, even if Miri had never seen one, why hadn’t she at least heard of them? As dramatic as this display sounds, it seems strange that there would not have been at least “legends,” even in the city.
Even if YouTube abstractly know that Auroras exist – does that mean you have to be able to identify it when you first see one? Especially when the first reaction ist “massive Gunfire”
