Trader’s Leap – Chapter 26

Tarona Rusk
Daglyte Seam

In which Tarona Rusk has business elsewhere.

This chapter’s mostly filling in details that haven’t been mentioned in this book yet, without much in the way of new information.

So we still don’t know what business Tarona has still to do.

Self-destruction, though it would explain why she’s leaving all the Healers and not telling any of them her plans, doesn’t seem like her style. And with all the emphasis on how well Tarona and her “children” know each other I feel like one of them would have noticed something if that was it.

My best guess is that she’s going after Shan to have a proper conversation about where they stand with each other, now that they don’t have other emergencies distracting them.

If so, that means she’s going to end up in the Redlands as well, and if she does have questions about what she’s going to do with herself once her current business is concluded, perhaps she’ll find answers there.

Maybe she’s the other person in the Oracle’s prophecy, the one who will come in the Great Ones’ wake and be of possible use to the Warden. (Which would have the amusing corollary of leaving Shan in the role of the catalyst who makes the fulfilment of the prophecy possible but of whom the prophecy itself says nothing.)
