The Gathering Edge – Chapter 29

Minot Station

In which Bechimo‘s exec and chief technician are in conference.

I agree with Kara that there’s something here not quite adding up, but I’m not sure yet what it is.

I like the little bits from Kara’s viewpoint reflecting her past experience in space station maintenance. And the bits where her expectations create differences of detail between her world and ours, like considering an elevator terribly outdated because you have to actually press something to tell it to go.

I have a suspicion about the timing of Semimodo sending the intern for drinks; it might mean that he wanted the intern out of earshot for the next part of the discussion.

I wonder what the situation is on Eylot these days that prompted Hugglelans to do whatever it is they’re doing.

It seems like there are many planets where the Dept of Interior could be very happy, indeed. I lose track of them all, so I wish there was a list somewhere of all the planets and stations that have become dangerously insular and controlling. Eylot, Machizek (Fledgling), Minot Station, Sintin (Priscilla’s home world), the unwelcoming planets Dutiful Passage visited in Alliance of Equals, etc.
