In which the Portmaster is late for lunch.

I guess maybe it was too much to expect that we were going to get an answer just like that.

It’s suitably dramatic that the fella in the blue coat disappeared right when Herb was distracted talking to Jeremy, and under other circumstances I might wonder if Jeremy distracted him deliberately. A man could be nervous about the outcome of the meeting in more ways than one. But we’ve seen Jeremy working security at the Emerald before, so he’s a known quantity.

What I’m wondering now is if there ever was any intention for the meeting to go ahead. It’s been noted already that the Emerald, under the eye of Boss Conrad’s security, is an odd choice of location — but what if the point is to keep all of Boss Conrad’s security looking at the fella in the blue coat while somebody else intercepts the portmaster and the survey team leader on the way over?
