In which Norn ven’Deelin considers her options.

Master ven’Deelin is decisive in moving to assist her foster son, not that I expected anything different from her by this point.

I am not sure I have correctly untangled that very long sentence which comes third in this chapter. It sounds like it has a story behind it, whatever it means.

I think the long, complicated sentence, is trying to communicate too much.
    1) The librarian Vil Tor apparently had been instructed by Norn to allow no interruptions by anyone for any reason
    2) Nevertheless, Gaenor was interrupting
    3) One reason Norn considered for the breach of her orders by Vil Tor was the close relationship between Vil Tor and Gaenor (a contract of pleasure)
    4) Norn realizes that Vil Tor’s melant’i would never have allowed him to make an exception for such a frivolous reason.
All of that leads her to refer to him in the next sentence as disobedient AND dutiful: his duty required disobedience of the immediate orders.
