Agent of Change – Chapter 3

In which the man who was not Terrence O’Grady recalls Val Con yos’Phelium.

I am reminded of something Sharon Lee says in one or another of the various places she’s talked about the origins of this novel: that when she first started telling herself stories about what eventually became the Liaden Universe, they were about Val Con the master spy on his own, but after a while Miri came into things because — as near as I can remember the wording — Val Con was in need of someone who still knew what truth looked like.

Ah, I hadn’t read that. Thanks for sharing.

Perhaps this is an appropriate point to ask something that I remember you writing somewhere that I can no longer locate, something about Sharon being “bemused” by this reread site. What was that about, if it can be told?

I don’t seem to be able to locate it either, so I’m not sure what I might have been thinking of. I think it was less the site itself, than some of the more experimental plans I had for it when I was first planning to do it, most of which I subsequently decided were undesirable, impracticable, or both.
